A problem of ignorance

If you wish to see a talk, in Spanish, on why Socialism is inherently wrong, check out the excellent lecture given by Jesús Huerta de Soto, a leading professor of Austrian Economics and grandson of a famous bullfighter, from whom he inherited a sublime sense of theatricality.

Huerta de Soto explains that human beings possess an innate entrepreneurial capacity to identify and seize opportunities. Socialism is an institutionalized and systematic assault against the free exercice of this capacity. In order to impose its own vision of the world or objectives, the centralized state hijacks responsibility from human beings, the very “protagonists of entrepreneurial efforts”.

The Austrian School: Market Order and Entrepreneurial Creativity is Huerta de Soto’s concise introduction to this school of classical liberalism. Other English texts are available from the author’s website.
